The Lost Arts

CASE FILE: Transmutation Equipment

Xanthus Icarus
...........................................................................
NAME:
→ The Lost Art
(Combining Alchemy and Alkahestry){Construct Building}

TYPE:
→ Basic

LEVEL:
→ Three

FORM:
→ Intricate array of tattoos spanning the entire body, a large number of kunai (attached to strings), and a special chalk to write on hard substances.

...........................................................................

BRIEFING:
→ Xan does not use a simple transmutation circle. Rather, his entire body is covered in an intricate array of tattoos that form nine circles at certain parts of Xan’s body that are connected by patterned lines. The actual circles are located on Xan’s head(1), chest(1), shoulders(2), back(1), palms(2), and feet(2). Using the tattoo, Xan does not have to waste time drawing a circle, instead being able to use his alchemy in the same manner as Scar; meaning that he need only touch the hand to the ground (or any surface being transmuted upon) that is being used for the desired effect. The reason that the circles are in nine different areas with lines connecting them is that the alchemic power needs to be able to flow smoothly throughout Xan’s body in order to effectively operate. The alchemic power is of course, referring to the mixture of chi and alchemic energy flowing through Xan. With the alchemist at all times are a dual bladed sword, an assortment of throwing knives and senbon needles to be used for his alkahestry, and a standard military firearm, just in case something prevents the use of alchemy/alkahestry. - Xanthus has changed up his repertoire somewhat now. Instead of a blade-staff, he now carries a long sword in a sheath on his back. Also, he wears metal Cesti (plural for Cestus) on his hands to increase the strength of his punches. {You never know when someone will need a good punch right?}

SPECIAL ABILITIES:

→ Level One: Reconstruction Alchemy

Construction Alchemy – The left arm, designated for reconstruction, is marked with the same array turned upside down to represent an inward flow and with the Dragon's Pulse tattooed in white ink rather than the black ink of the right arm. Its inward flow completes the cyclical pulse of full transmutation and it is marked with "IGNIS" and "AQUA", completing the elemental tetrad. Using his left arm, Xan can use alchemy to reconstruct, create (from materials), or change the shape of any object so long as he has sufficient knowledge of what composes it and how it works.
Examples: Weaponry (As a militant, Xan has had weapons training, and has learned the general composition of most firearms), spikes, walls, etc.

Level Two Upgrade - Construct Creation - By utilizing the Dragon's Pulse' constant flow of energy, Xanthus has the ability to create constructs from materials that are around him, essentially giving him the power to create a small warrior unit at will. The constructs can take the form of animals or humanoids, and their strength is determined by the materials that they are made from. The constructs are moved through the use of constant transmutations, specifically repeated reconstruction, so that in a sense, they are as puppets to Xanthus' will. However, the downside to this ability is that there is a very small time lapse between Xanthus' command and the execution of said command, as the alchemy needs to take effect.

Level Three Upgrade - Epic Reconstruction - Xan utilizes the full power of the Dragon Pulses' ability to power alkahestry, giving him the ability to perform (reconstruction) 'alchemy' over vast distances, and with a much more dramatic effect . This power is achieved through the use of a small mechanism attached to his wrist. This mechanism is actually a small firearm with his signature circle on it. How it works is that Xanthus uses his power to solidify a small amount of carbon into a small 'bullet', then he uses that as his medium for alkahestry. Wherever the bullet lands (and this bullet can go quite a long range) Xanthus' powers can reach. This long range upgrade, combined with his new strength in reconstruction, make for a highly potent combination. Example: Say Xanthus once had the power to make a small hill. Now he can make a small mountain, and he can do it from from a few kilometers away. (A tad extreme, but it gets my point across. :P)

→Level Two: Deconstruction Alchemy/Basic Alkahestry

Deconstruction Alchemy – The right arm, marked with "TERRA" and "AER", carries an array incorporating twin snakes in a Caduceus pattern surrounded by reptilian scales which may represent the "Dragon's Pulse" of alkahestric origin and a series of tribal arrows leading down to the wrist, representing an outward flow. This arm is designated for deconstruction. Using his right arm, Xan can use alchemy to deconstruct any object, so long as he has sufficient understanding about what composes it. Examples: rock, flesh, bone, steel, ice, etc.

Level Three Upgrade - Epic Deconstruction - Xan utilizes the full power of the Dragon Pulses' ability to power alkahestry, giving him the ability to perform (deconstruction) 'alchemy' over vast distances, and with a much more dramatic effect . This long range upgrade, combined with his new strength in deconstruction, make for a highly potent combination. Example: Say Xanthus once had the power to destroy a small hill. Now he can destroy a small mountain, and he can do it from from a few kilometers away. (A tad extreme, but it gets my point across. :P)

Basic Alkahestry - Long Distance/Medical alchemy: The Ishvallan has also advanced in his studies of Alkahestry, having learned to project his alchemy using two kunai (One to throw on the ground, one to throw at whatever he hopes to transmute). In addition, Xan is able to close up (heal) minor wounds, speed up the healing process of a major wound, and cure minor aliments like bruises and headaches (he’s working on the cure for the common cold, lol).

Level Three Upgrade - Advanced Alkahestry - The Ishvallan's studies of Alkahestry have developed further, giving him the ability to to heal major wounds (like broken bones and bullet wounds), cure major ailments such as diseases (not able to heal blindness or anything like that, just perhaps cure someone of a headache or the flu), and speed up the healing process of near-fatal wounds, potentially becoming a walking hospital, able to heal his allies and keep them going longer during battles.

→Level Three: Rapid Alchemy

Xanthus has always had alchemical circles copied over his entire body since the day that he drew the first. However, only two of these circles have ever been actively used in combat (or outside of it for that matter). Now, the Ishvallan has learned how to use the circles on his feet, utilizing them in the same way that he uses his hands, performing alchemy without the need to bend over to touch the ground or reach over to touch a wall. The way this is done is simple; The Ishvalan lifts his foot and brings it into contact with whatever he hopes to transmute. This dramatically cuts down the time needed to perform alchemy/alkahestry (on the ground mainly), making Xanthus more powerful not by giving him a new method with which to destroy his opponents, but by giving him a faster way to react to danger.

Okay, we're going to finished this and it will be a masterpiece!
(I'm bolding the parts I will be talking about below).

Level One: Reconstruction Alchemy
Level Two Upgrade - Construct Creation -
"The constructs are controlled by Xanthus' subconscious, eliminating the need for the Ishvallan to have to focus on the movements of each, and giving them the ability to work as a team and follow Xan's orders and tactics without him having to do more than think about them. Summary - Xanthus' constructs are controlled by his subconscious and powered by a constant flow of energy from the Dragon's Pulse."

They cannot be controlled in general since things that aren't living cannot move. Now, the only way to make this work is if he deconstructs them and reconstructs them over and over again to make them move like their arm for example. The Dragon's Pulse is not a life-energy source that one can pull out of the ground and put into an inanimate object to 'bring it to life' per-say. It seems like it has a connection only with things that 'breathe.' Does that make sense?

Level Three Upgrade - Epic Reconstruction Alchemy -
"Xan utilizes the full power of the Dragon's Pulse's ability to power alchemy, giving him the ability to perform (reconstruction) alchemy over vast distances, and with a much more dramatic effect without requiring the use of kunai knives nor any other medium. This power is achieved by combining the power of the Dragon's Pulse with the power of Alchemy's source of power (tectonic plates)."

You need a medium for Alkahestry to work which connects it with the Dragon's Pulse. You also can't combine Alchemy and Alkahestry seeing as they come from two completely different sources. If you aren't using the Dragon's Pulse for Alkahestry and instead tectonic plates, then it's not Alkahestry. And then your whole concept of Construct Creation will no longer work. Basically what I'm trying to say is that Alkahestry cannot power Alchemy to make it stronger. They are two completely different things. It's like trying to use water to make fire stronger.

Level Two: Deconstruction Alchemy/Basic Alkahestry
"Xan utilizes the full power of the Dragon's Pulse's ability to power alchemy, giving him the ability to perform (deconstruction) alchemy over vast distances, and with a much more dramatic effect without requiring the use of kunai knives nor any other medium."

I have to outright reject this one. Other then my points stated above, you really can't deconstruct such complicated things from a distance like that without a medium.

Level Three: Rapid Alchemy
"Now, the Ishvallan has learned how to use the circles on his feet, utilizing them in the same way that he uses his hands, performing alchemy without the need to bend over to touch the ground or reach over to touch a wall."

Okay, so you don't have to bend over or anything, but you still have to touch the object you are constructing/deconstructing. Now say you want to transmute the ground, you have to remove your foot from it and put your foot back down on it in order to activate it. You can't just think: "Okay, now I want to use my circle" and then it works.

Now, the solution is basically this... If you want to strengthen your Alchemy, just do so without adding the part that you use Alkahestry to do it. Sure, you can deconstruct/construct a mountain with normal alchemy--and I'll approve that. But you have to do it by touching it with Alchemy or throwing kunai (or something else) into it with Alkahestry (like Reila uses bullets). You can't have both Alkahestry and Alchemy in one. It's just like when you pour water over fire...it just goes out.

APPROVED

Be careful with the deconstruction alkahestry. (Like you can't just go and wipe out whole armies XP 'course you know that).
