That's Showbiz~

Post by Kit Estenial on Wed Jul 11, 2012 1:45 pm

Kit was doing pretty well now. He had taken up residence at Central City in an 'ok' home and was making decent cash at the Café Saffron as regular entertainment. He was getting drinks and food for free for a small pay cut, and most of the time 10 or 15 napkins in his tip jar with numbers written on them, most of the time with a lip stick stain on the corner. Café Saffron was, in truth, was were he met with his current employer and in the back was the V.I.P Room, where one moment stained his record. But the damage had been repaired there and the place was starting to come alive. It was a very relaxing place, velvet and gold, almost like a mansion, with a excellent mahogany bar. The stage had been upgraded, more stage lights and a better sound system had been installed since last time. He was now sipping some white zinfaendel at the bar, looking at the stage with intensity.

Why do you insist on earning a HONEST living? I mean, killing is much more fun, and it can pay if you find the right person...

And here it was, back again. The desensitized Kit, the voice of murder and bringer of death. It had no name, and went by none. It spoke to him recently with just hurtful and often disturbing words. Now, Kit, after 8 years of dealing with it, learned to block it out but not without some difficulty, and he thought that a response was not needed. So, he continued sipping on his wine, ignoring the comment like it never happened. He never lifted his slit, emerald eyes from the microphone. He was informed that their would be another performer today, and whoever it was was fronting him. An odd concept to him, but if it let him drink another glass of this delicious 1937 vintage, then let it be so, he thought.

Soon, he was tapped on the shoulder and her turned his head to see the manager, Mr. Rembrant. He was a tall, gruff man with the beard of a mountain man, wearing a plade shirt and business pants and some, to Kit anyway, very tacky golden chains around his bulbous and muscular neck. Kit had assumed he was perhaps from one of the island nations, but he couldn't place exactly which one. He looked worried and a bit displeased, looking at him with desperate eyes, speaking to him in flawless Amestrian.

"Kit, you gotta get up there. The other act's gettin cold feet, she must be new to this. Get up there and show 'er how it's done, alright?"

Oh, he couldn't say no to Mr. Rembrant. It seemed almost impossible, for one of two reasons. The man was just had a great sense of charisma around him and he looked like he could snap you in half like a toothpick. Kit's reasoning was both, so he knocked back what little was left of his wine, sighed with his ears twitching, and stood.

"I'll go get my things...."

He walked on in his feline way, tail swishing back and forth regally. His interest had been peaked by the mention of 'she'. A female performer? Not unheard of, but not seen at Saffron in Kit's memory. For now, Mr. Rembrant had only employed him and the string quartet, a fan of high society music as well as Kit's exotic music choices and he was interested in what she had to bring to the table.

He swung open the door to the V.I.P Room, a small, just as luxurious bedroom, with golden post bed covered in velvet sheets. Among said sheets was a dark green duffle bag he had procured from a military surplus store. Inside held his instruments, his emergency blood packs, and his extensive sketch and painting equipment. He pulled out his violin case and ocarina, seeing as how he was known for it here. His ocarina was a 12 hole, a light chesnut color, and one of his most prized possesions, next to his collar and kukri.

He walked out onstage to some scattered applause and sat at the stool by the microphone, bringing the clay flute to his lips and beginning to play. It was an old Crieg melody, a song he'd heard by a fire side party. It played rapidly as people danced and spinned around the bonfire, and he learned it by ear alone, and it was a perfect reconstruction, right down to the emotion behind it. The song felt powerful, free spirited, like a wild horse charging through miles of open country, it's mane whipping wildly about as its poweful form sprinting towards a never ending horizon.

Music invoked poweful emotion in Kit, it can make him go from silent tears to violent brawling, but when he played, it was his job to make the audience feel emotion, to tell a story with nothing but an amazing string of notes. He played with closed eyes, his tail whipping to the beat. He ended the song to a round of applause as he opened his violin case, raising it to play a slow Esparian ballad. This song sounded like two lovers meeting in the afterlife, a moment of sorrow covered in infinite happiness. Kit never felt more alive when he played music...besides feeding.

Re: That's Showbiz~

Post by Guest on Wed Jul 11, 2012 4:24 pm

B-Bmp. B-Bmp. Her heart hammered so loudly. Why was she even here, preforming? She wasn't some young genius. With eyes of soft blue skies, she stared hard at her feet. Head bowed as she tried to calm her heated heart. The bruises on her side still unhealed completely and even coughing hurt if only a bit. No one knew. The pain inside shielded from everyone, even herself. In her mind, Luc had no pain. Her lack of memory, perhaps was it optional? A decision that said "Hey.. If I can't remember the pain, it doesn't hurt." Yet as she looked up into the mirror.. the face staring back had tears. Wet tears that dripped slowly on the edges. Sadness, bitter-sweet sadness that trailed her smooth cheeks. Who could you hurt when no one was there? At least she couldn't harm the ones that she loved, since they weren't around, right?

A desperate smile was falsified on her face and even she, herself could see through it. She gagged on her own swallowed sobs and dropped he face against the sink. If only time could turn back and she could have told him. Way back when he was still around, she hadn't thought twice on her feelings, but now was an hour too late. Perhaps the future would shine a smile upon her? A grateful thanking for the lost soul that had nothing but felt it was everything. So why was she crying? Was it fear? Was it realization, twenty years it all started and now.. she was in a dressing room of some man she didn't notice. Nothing on but her undergarments and a large t-shirt while she tried to wipe away all the pain from her eyes. This would be great!

A knock on the door, firm and somehow demanding broke the silence. Jumping in her seat, she looked at the time and panicked. She was supposed to be on the stage three minutes ago! Late, late, late! Where was her schedule?! Her hands pushed rapidly around papers and make up (that she didn't wear). Clatters of falling items, something rolled and Luc tried to stand up completely, her foot catching and hooking the chair. CRASH! She fell, knocking the chair over with her and falling on her healing ribs that creaked with warning. The pain! It made her stomach lurch and her throat gasp a swallowed howl of pain. Okay.. I'm okay.

"Miss! Are you, okay in there?" He asked with a heavier rapping at the door.

As she was making a mess of her dressing room, she managed to slide on her skirt, socks and then her boots. Her top switched out and replaced by the smaller top over her black camisole. A pleated skirt of pink on her lap and her boots white with pink rings. Her rings on her pointer fingers and she looked at herself in the mirror. That looked better! Her hands pushed through her lilac hair and then it hit her. Could she do this? What if she insulted someone with her singing? She could only Xing in her own tongue and yet... She could barely do that. Scrutinizing eyes, eyes that swore and screamed at her. One false tone and you were tossed into a tank of sharks.

Hesitantly, she made her way to the door, her legs as if made of leg. Her heart racing once again. The way she ended up there that night crazy anyways. Searching for her adopted dad had led her to Amestris. Upon a night in the streets the kind man had heard her singing and offered to start her in singing. Lucky she understood his words, the pathetic girl reached and took his hand. To think the start would be at such a cafe that looked top notch! Things in there looked more expensive than anything she'd had her whole life and all she'd had put into one object.

She grabbed the doorknob and shakily, opened it. the necklace on her neck gleamed with her family crest as her legs shakily walked to the stage. A man with hair lighter than hers was finishing his own piece. Though, not a word she could understand, she could feel nothing but pure emotion. Was there pain in his voice? Something more, he needed help, he was lost! She could almost feel it. Troubling pain that flooded into words and a heart open to the world that's what made music so perfect. A buff man behind Luc soon shoved her on stage once the man's song was done.

As Luc passed him, she noted he looked like a cat, then she thought twice. Cat people weren't real! then again, she had been hurt by a yeti recently... It was maybe time to think a person cat was real. The music began to stir and confidence soon slipped onto her face. A smile for those lost souls. Lucrezia was a firefly. All those hurting and lost, follow me, I shall bring you light in the darkest of nights! Opening her eyes once more, the words started and she began to sway to the beat. Upon forgetting the eyes of starers, she managed to dance to her song. An old one, her mother used to sing once in a cold blue moon. Though not many souls would understand a word she said. The lyrics were sang as if created by her, each and every second pouring more and more of her warming heart.

Lyrics:
"In some time, somewhere which no one knows
Lived a boy whose name was never told
Fairy tales his village yield
And hereby I shall tell

From the moment on which he was born
He was feared and met with hate and scorn
Burdens dwell on this devil's child
Too much for him to bare

Though there weren't a reason why
He should crumble down and cry
When the sunset dyes the sky
You had taken my hand that night

I don't know! I don't know! There's really nothing that I know!
If there is a kind of kindness after taking a scold
Or perhaps, may I ask
If there's a loving heat to hold
Even after the rain has really, really chilled me to the bone

I can't go! I can't go! I can't perish from this world!
And no matter what, I'm not allowed to dream it as so
When I fail, this fairy tale
That nobody even knows
Will be thrown to the dying sunset to be burnt up and swallowed

Like a coursing river the violence hits
Everyday I drown under looks they give
Unnoticed by the public eye
You stood there by my side

Even speaking was a forbidden thing
Yet you said you wanted to know my name
I'm sorry I don't have a clue
Or a tongue to answer you

I had thought it for so long
That there's no place I belong
"Won't you come on home with me?"
Then you took my hand to lead

I don't know! I don't know! There's really nothing that I know!
Even when you weren't a child anymore as the time has flown
But it's true, I finally knew
Of another person's heat
When you reached your hand and really, really, risked it to teach me

Won't you go? Won't you go? Won't you stop it and just go?
Don't you know that they will kill you if they came and found out?
After rain, the hated kids
That nobody even knows
Had been thrown to dying sunset to be burnt up and swallowed

Days by sunset and nights consumed by light
Tired of playing we at last gave up the fight
This kind of world would be better if only
Anybody but you and me were to disappear
Anybody but you and me were to disappear

I don't know, I don't know, what's this voice that's coming close
That all of the humans but you me is forced to follow
Resistance not allowed
They were taken by their hands
And was thrown to dying sunset to be burnt up and swallowed

I don't know, I don't know, there's really nothing that I know
Not even a clue about your name or where we shall go
But right now, but right now
This is more than good for me
And that's really, really, truly, truly, the story I believe

I don't know, I don't know, what's this ringing that comes close
It was thrown to dying sunset to be burnt up and swallowed"

As the song was completed, her left hand rose and the microphone nearly pressed to her lips. As odd as it was to sing a song of such at a cafe, she did as she felt prepared for. A whole day was barely enough time for her to create a more soothing lyrics, but by then she might have been gone. Afterwards, she stood, taking a bow, before pivoting her body and walking off the stage. Her heart pounding from the rushing adrenaline. What a day. Leaning on a wall, she sought faces but none stood there. She was alone and because of such, she could take an easy breath and smile.

He was applauded off-stage, a figure was pushed passed him. There was a beautiful scent for a brief moment and it lingered around him for a brief moment as his serpentine eyes caught a glimpse of a lilac color. He thought it nothing and took up a seat at the table closest to the stage. It was already set with a singular crystal wine glass and a bottle of red merlot on ice on the table, this time 1927 vintage! Kit licked his lips, eyeing the bottle and uncorking it, taking the glass in his palm as he sat down. He began to fill the glass with the dark crimson liquid and set the bottle back on the mahogany table. He lifted his head to look up, swirling the wine in the glass.

"Now let's see what she can..." Then he saw her. And that's when his wine glass shattered on the floor, the wine leaving no stain in the velvet colored floor. His jaw slacked a bit as he saw the woman on stage. Porcaline perfect skin, amazing almost sapphire eyes, and there was the lilac he saw, the flowing hair that fell and framed her face perfectly. A masterpiece of the Creator, a true gift from God. His eyes grew wide and his heartbeat increased, with no rhyme or reason to do so. She was incredibly beautiful...then she opened her lips and began to sing.

And it was beautiful...One of the greatest voices he'd ever heard. The song was fast, peppy, and her voice was the same, singing in a language he'd heard of, but had no understanding of. But, Kit thought, something was wrong. Ingenuine, perhaps. Kit felt a wave of hurt and pain, but he could not pinpoint where it came from. But that would not ruin this. It donned on him that there could be something construtive he could be doing.

Stunning...beautiful...a voice of...there has been nothing that has existed to match this...Must. Get. SKEEEEETCHBOOOOK!!!

And like an excited kitten, he ran off, grabbed his pencils and his sketchbook and sat straight back down, going to town on his canvas. He kept looking at her, only glancing at the page a few times, his hands going automatticly to his pencil case, the location of every color engrained in his memory. He finished in a flourish as she finished her song, signing his name from a prick in his thumb as she bowed. She leaned against the wall as he walked over, his sketchbook tucked under his arm as he clapped and smiled, his ears and tail twitching madly. No person in there right mind would come to Amestris without knowing the tongue or a translator, so he went with his fluent Amestrian.

"That was absolutly amazing, miss! You're amazing, fantastic! I'd like you to see something..."

He pulled out from his arm the sketchbook turned to the page with her sketch, a happy Lucrezia gripping the microphone, lit up in stage lights, singing to the horizon.
"I have a few talents of my own."

Re: That's Showbiz~

Upon the silence, her shaky breaths were taken. Confidence draining and the rather sweet face fell a bit downcast. Closing her eyes, she tried to settle her shaking body. The shy look upon her face shining as a kind voice spoke to her. It seemed someone was talking, but was it to her? Slowly she turned to look at him with her big blue eyes. Her whole heart simply unguarded for the time, Lucrezia wasn't one to hide much of anything. Even when she did, it was so easily seen through. It troubled her at first to as what he was saying. Foreign gibberish at first, until she realized he was speaking another language she knew.

"That was absolutly amazing, miss! You're amazing, fantastic! I'd like you to see something..." Lucrezia blinked once, then twice, watching him pull up a picture of her. Obviously not taken by camera, but the art was very well done. In her eyes she'd never seen something more beautiful. "I have a few talents of my own." Lucrezia was still admiring the artwork, while trying to remember what exactly language he was speaking. His voice was pleasant and his none evil aura seemed to ease her into a type of comfort. Though she wasn't hard to win over anyways. Smiling genuinely, she had to wipe a tear from her eye and her voice let out a laugh.

"Je vous remercie!!" Overcome with joy, she forgot what language he was speaking. "Err.. I mean, Thank you!" Her voice adjusted quickly to Amestrian. A slight accent slipping into her words. Her body felt as if it were overflowing. Heat that started in her chest and slowly warmed her completely. Her fingers tingled and overall she felt as if someone was tickling her heart. So much excitement! It was as if for a moment she couldn't breathe.

"This is the nicest present I've ever been given!" She stated and blinked a bit, suddenly looking discouraged. "I have nothing to give to you, though..." Her eyes downcast once more. Don't take things from strangers. Her father always taught her and this man was obviously a stranger. Yet, she felt as if this man was not someone to be feared.. not at the moment anyways. Her hands moved to cross beneath her bosoms. Her right hand pointed upwards while the elbow rested against her stomach, and her pointer finger rested on her bottom lip. "Uhmm..." She thought, obviously with her eyes looking upward as if an answer was sky-bound.

Then she forgot completely that vague thought. "Oh! Uhh what was I saying? RIGHT!" A finger moved straight up and she waved with her smile big. "Hello, sir. My name is Lucrezia Marie Dorand!" Her eyes closed again and her head cocked to the side. "I know I shouldn't talk to strangers, but.. I don't think you're a mean man!" She exclaimed in a chipper voice. The pin of loneliness fading from distraction. Even though this man might leave soon, it was a treasure that he was spending the little time then with her. A jewel to her as she curtseyed to him and then looked back with her beaming smile.

She spoke Rouenian...what a pleasant suprise! He had stayed in Rouen for several months, refining his taste in both food and wine in that country. It was beautiful in its nature and architecture, and this girl was a prime example of that beauty. She smiled as she wiped a tear from eye, one of joy he surmised. She looked like she was out of breath, possibly from the performance. He was genuinely suprised that he had to cover for her, but she ended up being not at all afraid on stage, but was now looking very silent and shy.

She thanked him for the present, a mere trinket Kit thought of it, but she loved it. Had said that was her greatest gift anyone had given her...BUT HOW? This girl was beautiful, surely men nipped at her heels, and buried her in mountains of jewelry, but to think this was her greatest gift...this made Kit question his faith in men everywhere.

"I have nothing to give you, though..." Kit mearly laughed at this, a slight chuckle as he waved his hand back and forth, turning his head away.
"Your company and that performance are enough for me, miss." Then she crossed her arms and put a finger to her supple lips, a very cute posture he must admit. She introduced herself as Lucrezia...wait, what? This was not his protocal! He often introduced himself first, so this caught him off-guard, shocking him a bit. Then she spoke of not speaking to strangers and how he didn't seem mean...what was she on about? She then curtseyed to him; the signal of a mannered woman. She was genuinely happy, but...when she curtseyed...she winced in pain. This was where the pain he felt came from. It was both mental and physical he felt from her. What he wouldn't do to help...but he knew what medical journals did teach him, a lot of field medicine to take care of himself. But now he opened with a bow of his own, a palm pressed flat to his chest exposed by the shirt.

"I, m'lady, am Kit Vesper Estenial, a pleasure to meet you. Excuse me for this, but you are in pain, yes?" He placed a hand on his chin, cradling the arm with his other hand, examining her posture and any sign that could asist him. "Yes...Some sort of torso injury, serious bruising maybe...looks to me like ribs, am I right?"

"Your company and that performance are enough for me, miss." That was so sweet of him! The fact he enjoyed her company! Her cheeks reddened some. Why was she blushing? It didn't make any sense. Oh well! The man was kind enough, that it warmed her to the point her fingers tingled. Her whole body felt so strangely excited as he had acknowledged her and even went so far as to compliment her. Normally Lucrezia would say such things and not get anything in return, as far as she could recollect and look! He had given her such a pretty picture! It was all so dizzying! She could only smile brightly as words seemed to be a foreign thing now. What was she to say?

The man bowed to her in turn. Normally people would find that incredibly odd. Luc was not exactly normal. Her eyes lit up and she took the bow with a grateful gleam. So flattering, it made her heart pound heavily. Yet her side was a river of pain. Broken bones were still painful even after a treatment.. that she hadn't even given. As he stood, her eyes were watching him intently; focused. "I, m'lady, am Kit Vesper Estenial, a pleasure to meet you. Excuse me for this, but you are in pain, yes? Yes...Some sort of torso injury, serious bruising maybe...looks to me like ribs, am I right?"

"E-Eh?!"
How did he find out about that? Her hand subconsciously led to rest on the injury. Her eyes were wide and scared, resting upon the injury with gentle fingertips. Fear upon her. Would he hurt her now? What's more.. how did he notice? Her eyes dipped a second to look at her hand. There was no blood, she was okay. Though, she knew the truth that inner injuries were the worst kind. Ignorance for this matter was bliss. Her head shook, nervously with eyes full of a kindness. "I-I uhmm I'm fine! I just.. just tripped down the stairs earlier today. Not much bruising, at all!" Her hands waved in a 'no worries fashion'. The pain was only minimal, it wasn't anything to worry about. Her eyes closed and she gave a bright smile. "Thank you, though." Her lies were terrible. She wasn't the lying type, but in this situation, she didn't want him to worry about her. Even if she were dying she'd rather watch happy faces then ones rigid with worry about her.

.........Kit had seen many a bad liar in his time, but this woman took 1st prize in that category. Kit sufficed that she was not to need to lie enough to perfect it; her eyes not making contact with his, the smattering in here flawless Amestrian, she must've never had lied in her life, and that pleased and suprised Kit. But it disgusted the voice to if it was in control, it would've vomited right then and there. Kit stood a moment staring at the wall as the voice began to speak inside his mind in it's distorted sound waves

"I'm surprised I'm not diabetic by now with all this sweet shit you put me through...though I bet she'd taste good"

"God, you sicken me. Why won't you just give up and leave?"

"I AM you, genius! I can't leave, and if I could, I would've a long time ago if I had known you were such a bitch..."

Kit shook himself back to his outward reality, his hair tussled in front of eyes before being brushed aside by his ivory hand, allowing his serpent eyes to peek from behind his snow white curtains, staring at her deep blue eyes. He wondered what this woman's story was, what tales she had to tell. As if on an unbearable cue, Mr. Rembrant appeared with two glasses of red Chardonnay, laying them on the nearby bar. Kit did not hesitate to raise it to his lips and drain half its contents, it's tart taste washing his tongue in a wave of flavor.

Lucrezia smiled brightly at the man. It seemed her lying was already forgotten. Oh well, water under the bridge as people put it. Her eyes closed and she grimaced a moment before straightening her clothes and turning to take in the man and his drink. A temporary conflict had gone on it seemed, the way his face responded and Lucrezia worried that the man was harmed by her words-- what ever it was she had even said. Her lips were in a frown and it felt as if she'd cry for a second. Had she upset him? Oh no and what was worse, she couldn't remember what she had even done! She could apologize but people got mad when she didn't comprehend WHY she was apologizing. Mentally she beat herself up.

The eyes of hers turned to the kind man who brought a couple drinks and as Lucrezia grabbed one and took a drink, she spat it back instantly. Her eyes stared bitterly at the glass and for once she looked upset. "THIS ISN'T JUICE!" She shouted in surprise and tilted her head, twirling the liquid in the glass like a mini whirlpool. She did not like it at all, the bitter taste was not at all invited in her mouth and not even a second later it was back on the tray and Luc made faces akin to a dog with peanut butter. Indeed, her first taste of wine was not a good one.

Deciding to drown out the bitter, she turned to smile at the white-haired kitty man with a bright grin. "SO! You played really pretty!" She spoke loudly, as if redirecting the topic from something awkward. Her side- She grimaced a bit more, wanting to sit down but no chairs around.

There was that wince again...there was something about that that just bothered him to no end. It was kinda like knit picking to him, that it was just one small factor that messed with his concentration, sending him into a spiral of questions hidden by his care free disposition. This girl was so happy on the outside, but he felt some deep trouble within her. He was snapped out of his deep thoughts once she spat out the wine, yelling something rather comical. It made him chuckle a bit. "No, Cerisian Red Merlot...though wine is usually a acquired taste. You have to let it sit on the tongue a bit; the tartness washes out your taste buds and then it hits you hard with an amazing blend of berries." He grinned a bit as he took another sit, rolling it in his mouth.

She winced again as she complimented him, soon he could take no more. He grabbed an empty barstool from down the bar and scooted it under her for her to sit in as he remained standing, though their eyes were now level. He couldn't stand her there in pain and him there doing nothing. He went into the back room again and got a lyric sheet and an electric guitar that Mr. Rembrant let him borrow for today. She placed a copy on his first original song on the counter in front of her. "How about this: if you're impressed by my song, then let me take you to the back room and look at that injury. If you're not, I'll drop this. I have several jobs, one of them being to help those I see that need it." He went for the stage and plugged in the guitar, not waiting for a response. His fingers flew across the fretboard as he began to play, singing an alluring voice.

Lucrezia heard his words. Wine..? Wasn't that stuff bad? She could have sworn her parents used to tell her all the time about how the wine was a bad thing and made people foolish. Still tart was no! She only liked sweetness. This tartness would not do, but she gave him and smile for it anyways. It was kind of him to offer, even if she disliked it. She was happy for his sake. Save him the pain, sacrifice her own selfishness for him. It was just how Lu was and how she would always be and- she lost her train of thought. What was she doing again? ..She couldn't recall. That memory of hers was irritating at times but soon she got over that feeling as well. She was fine and moved on with her life.

A stool was scooted to her and she fell into place upon it. Her eyes upturned to him with a sweet smile, but oblivious as it was. She tilted her head. If she was impressed by his performance? OOOOOO Was he going to juggle? Jugglers were the BEST! Next to ice cream men. MMMmmmmm Ice ream.. somehow she had lost her thoughts once again. What was this about? Something about music and her ribs which were fiinnneeeee. She was sure of it! Her blue eyes lifted to stare at him innocently though in pain as she was, she could mask it all away. If she pretended it didn't exist it was less painful for her.

She could deal with pain better than people who were far more competent than she, though she'd never say such a thing.. However it was a deal she could agree with. After all, she was up to listening. Though the bet itself was kind of dumb since it was obvious Lu was impressed by a blade of grass that looked like a blade... which was every single one. Yes, some found greatness in everything and LU was part of that some. So as he went on to sing his song she was thoroughly impressed. Her hands clapping and her eyes bright. She looked like a child on Christmas. Her voice cheering for him, as silly as that was.
