Chores for 'Evil'

Post by Emmelin on Sat Jul 14, 2012 4:17 pm

The day was droll. Weather of snow that left the area a whole nothingness of snow. It never ended. Her feet crunched in the snow with her every step and snow went flying as her leg lifted for the next one. Colors mashed together for something dark grey and white as well as black. It made her feel like she was in one of those movies. The ones with no color or even sound. Not a soul was in her view and it annoyed her. How was she supposed to play with toys when she was given none? People were dolls to her, life was her dollhouse. Or at least.. that used to be her view. Lately, it had changed. her visions of what was right and wrong smeared as if by a Godly hand. She didn't believe in Gd, though... This.. 'God' was a myth sent out to raise the hopes of the people. All that existed was the devil. She was his catalyst and with each deed she breathed more life into him. A soft whisper on the ear and another soul in the bag.

Her gloved digits ran through her lengthy brown hair. Violet eyes flashing with dull interest in the night walk. Her attire had changed for her time in Drachma. It wasn't like she could run around in a blouse and a skirt. Far too cold for that, she had added in some leggings to the picture. As well, she wore a black jacket and a pair of snow shoes, she had to admit were really ugly, but comfortable. Long gone were the cocktail dresses she so loved to wear in public, though had she been going anywhere just to stay inside, she would have bore the ankle-biting cold. Being that she couldn't recall for the life of her what she was doing at the time, she hadn't risked getting any sort of frostbite or red skin. After all, beauty was essential to her games. Even if there were some people who didn't agree (as much as it pissed her off).

When she reached a stop sign, she looked around, wondering where her partner was for the day. Adryion, her pet, was sleeping at home for this one. For some reason, Aurelius had decided she worked with another member of RIOTE. Maybe it was just to shake things up? Who knew, she was excited to meet more people. Though she claimed to just want to fuck with them, she had to secretly admit she was just lonely and often bored. So, since t.v. shows bored her, she would create her own dramas. Besides, Satan loved to eat the yummy souls dripping in lust or gluttony. Greed spiced his tongue with a flavor unmatched and well, the other sins were all so tantalizing. Her tongue flashed across her lips. She suddenly felt hungry, as it was. Though, she didn't eat the people she tortured, a nice burger or something sounded amazing. Maybe they could stop at a store and grab a sandwich. Valeria had money, even if ill-gotten. What did she care? Once they were dead, their money was hers. As well, a few she kept around, just to smother her in jewelry that she in turn sold behind their back and used the money for stuff she actually cared about.

For now, she stood at the sign, making her way to a bench. It was time for the get together, but she had no idea what the man looked like or spoke like, so it was a shot in the dark. At least she was in Drachma now, Drachman idiots were easier to handle than Amestrian ones. She couldn't understand why in her mind, but the question was un-needed and as the time passed, she found her way to a bench to sit down. What was it she was supposed to do again? A few kills? Her hand slid into her pocket and out came the paper for her memory to be revealed. Flipping it over, she realized it was a grocery list. Wonderful. Valeria hated stores. WITH A PASSION. After all, that was what she had Adryion for. He did this sort of stuff FOR her. Once she finished glaring daggers at the paper, she gave up and accepted the fate. Her posture upright while she awaited her counterpart for this little.. food run.

(pm me if you want me to change it)

Re: Chores for 'Evil'

Despite the fact that leather wasn't warmest material to use for clothing, it was something that Daemon usually wore. Unless, of course, he was wearing jeans, which was more common. Nevertheless, today was a day he wore his leather. All black, of course, and leather. Leather pants, leather boots, and a leather jacket over a black, long-sleeved shirt, that fortunately was just made of cotton. The jacket itself was lined with faux fur, which helped to keep him warm, not that he would notice the cold unless he was required to move around a lot and felt how slow his body would have grown from the low temperatures. His large hands were covered by leather gloves, and a long black scarf was draped rather loosely atop his shoulders. It was a slight touch that made him look less autonomic and more like someone with a bit of fashion sense, courtesy of Nyx. She'd told him various things he should do when dressing.

Adjusting the buckle of his belt, he walked along the side of the road, the snow crunching under his weight. While he still got looks from the Drachman citizens, they were beginning to grow accustomed to seeing him around. He was easy to recognize, mostly by his height and build, but the gaping holes in his face where most had eyes were his defining feature. Even his messy, long, black hair with its red streaks didn't seem so out of place anymore. His previously pale skin had begun to gain some color, if only because working for RIOTE had given him more opportunities to be in the sun than he originally had. Regardless of this color, he still looked as though he was an empty shell of a person, no soul, no emotions. That, of course, wasn't something that would change very easily. As is often said, the eyes are the window to the soul. In Daemon Ramone's case, he had no such windows to speak of; They were empty frames.

The appointed rendezvous location was just up ahead, if he remembered correctly. Then again, all he had to go off of were general distance measurements. Those were all he could rely on when it came to getting directions, as he couldn't actually read anything on the street signs he came across. He could recognize them for what they were, but being unable to see had its disadvantages among its underestimated advantages. Of course, most would say that the disadvantages far outweighed the advantages, but it wasn't as though most blind individuals had much of a choice, so it was, for those who cared, easier to think of the advantages they had over those with sight. For one, their other senses were generally more acute to begin with. For Daemon, being a chimera only made these better, so his senses aside from vision were far better than the average human being, and surpassed those of other bat chimeras, should they exist.

Stopping where he gauged the walkway ended, he waited and focused his senses on the surrounding area. There were others waiting for the pedestrian signal to change, he guessed, and he did the same, stepping onto the asphalt only when he could hear the clicking of shoes on the pavement. As he lifted his leg a little higher to step up onto the walkway on the other side, he turned toward a bench. Letting out a deep breath, he let another sonic emission tell him whether someone was already there or not. Normally he would have listened for the sound of breathing, but there were too many people coming and going for him to be able to tell if it was coming from the bench or not. The form on the bench seemed slight, and feminine. If his memory was correct, he was waiting for a young woman, and this bench was near the specified meeting place. Based on what he knew, most people preferred to sit down while waiting, so this would be the best place to wait for his partner, or vice versa, for his partner to wait for him.

After contemplating the best words to assess the situation, the tall chimera opened his mouth to speak, only to close it again. He didn't want to seem too forward with the seated individual. He deduced that if it was the right person, they would find the proper words. Instead, he stood there in a rather robotic fashion, with his arms at his sides. Hopefully he or she knew that they were supposed to be doing, as he hadn't been properly debriefed. All he knew was that it was a job that might require his assistance, though he wondered what it might be if it was something where his specific skills were needed. His face was cast at the ground. There was no need for him to keep it up, as he only used it for speaking and smelling, both of which functioned just properly at this angle. The same went for his hearing.

Where. The Hell. Was. THAT MAN?! Her brain was full of rage, This was ridiculous. Two things she hated; shopping and waiting. She had to do BOTH. For a man that she met maybe twice. Why was she doing this again? Really, it was ridiculous. Of all the people in RIOTE he had to choose her? It was like a game of let's make everyone do something they hate. Naturally, she was seething silently. Her outer appearance was that of a girl disgruntled. Valeria never looked intimidating. In fact, she looked less than scary and people had a tenancy to laugh when she was being serious. It was almost like she was an animal. Most just laughed and cooed 'aww how cute it thinks it viciou-

.....What the hell was that? Her eyes shot to the moving statue across the road. The HELL was that? Inner freak out mode initiated. Had that sign moved? That tall, black sign with red and black hair- Okay so that wasn't a sign it was a person. A very TALL person. Suddenly she felt short. If that person looked tall from her way across the street, she definitely would feel short at his side. Great. A whole day of feeling like a midget while shopping! Grumble, grumble, unpleasant words from her mouth. She got up and wandered over. Crossing the street and looking up at the TOWER OF A BEING before her. God, she cursed her own height.

"Uhmm, Hello. Are you err.. God damn what's his name?" She switched once she got pissed off enough. Her brow furrowed and she fished for the name. Shittttt she couldn't remember. "Da-.. Damion?" Yeah.. That was wrong. "Devon? Dave?" That sounded further off than the first guess. "Fuck it." She simply placed her hands in her pockets. "Ahm. My name is Valeria and I am pleased to meet you." She gave up and simply hoped the humble introduction kept her from being hit in the face. Her face beamed with a friendly smile to the stoic no-expression man. How she hoped she had the right person or she looked like an utter dumbass in front of this stranger.

THAT was unacceptable in Val terms. She had to look utterly adorable at all times or at least sexy. Fumbling over a name was NOT appealing it it pissed her off. Maybe she should have taken note of the man's name as well. That would have been smart. Unfortunately the word 'shopping' had sent her in enough of a rage that she ignored everything else the leader had said, basically. This left her with few options now.

Re: Chores for 'Evil'

The sound of movement caught Daemon's attention. It seemed that whatever person was supposed to be meeting him here was doing so now, and her voice reached his hears.

"Uhmm, Hello. Are you err.. God damn what's his name? Da-.. Damion? Devon? Dave? Ahm. My name is Valeria and I am pleased to meet you."

If he had been any other person, he might have gotten annoyed at the girl's struggle to remember his name. Either that, or laugh it off and correct her with a smile. Unfortunately, he was just Daemon Ramone, and that meant that everything was just plain and simple. It just was and humor was non-existent in his mind, nor did frustration plague him. Some might have considered it a blessing at some point, but gradually they might have longed to be able to feel anything. Considering he'd lost the ability to respond emotionally at a very young age, this was normal. His responses were thus limited to objective perspectives. There were very few exceptions to that rule, though they did exist, which was improvement in itself. This was not one of those exceptions, however, so complete objectivity had set in.

"Miss Valeria, my name is Daemon Ramone. By my account we're supposed to be meeting here to run an errand of some sort. I don't know what the task is, just that I'm supposed to be useful for some part of it. If that means we'll be put in any danger, rest assured that I won't let any harm come to you, if that's a possibility," he responded robotically, his voice eerily autonomic in the cold weather. Remembering what was normally considered polite, he turned his face toward her and awaited her reply. To him, she was hardly more than a colleague, but that gave her a status most strangers didn't have. As someone he would likely be working with in the future, it was imperative that he maintain good relations with her in order to ensure that she would have no reason to dislike or distrust him. By nature, he was trustworthy to the point where he was almost inhuman, a cyborg of sorts.

Though he wasn't completely human, it had nothing to do with robotics. He was, like others in the world, a chimera, a mixture of human and animal, created for a single purpose. Though he was unable to fulfill that purpose, he had gained a new purpose: Serving Aurelius as a part of RIOTE. Wherever Aurelius went, Daemon wasn't far behind. The two of them seemed to be connected somehow, and he was an exception to Daemon's rule, but what that was or what it meant, he didn't know. All he knew was that, unlike with most, with Aurelius, he felt that even if it wasn't logical, he would follow him and do what he asked. Since that included helping Valeria with this task, he would do it without question. Another formality became clear to him, one that he should have addressed much earlier.

"Miss Valeria, before we continue, is there any language you would prefer to communicate in? I am well-versed in many, so it would be of no inconvenience to me, but if it would make things easier for you, then I will comply." There it was again, that way of responding that made him seem less human than his appearance showed. Mentally scanning over the various languages he knew, he wondered if there was one that she would have preferred. He didn't detect any difficulty with Amestrian, but then some were skilled with what few phrases they knew. It was possible that the same principle applied to her.

Okay, so Mr.Tall was introducing himself. A very boring introduction that made Val almost cringe. He was one of THOSE kinds of people. The kinds that were too uptight for their own good. She was going to spend a few hours with this man and already, she knew she would be greatly annoyed with him. People who couldn't loosen up and have fun were just- not even worth it at times. Maybe she was wrong, maybe she was just jumping to conclusions. It was very possible this man had an inner flame that was simply hidden to strangers. A private fire that she simply didn't notice. Further introduction though- proved.. ineffective. He was a robot. Groan. She'd be dealing with a robotic man who believed she needed protecting. This vixen was perfectly fine. Her sweet tongue got her anything she wanted.

"Miss Valeria, my name is Daemon Ramone. By my
account we're supposed to be meeting here to run an errand of some sort.
I don't know what the task is, just that I'm supposed to be useful for
some part of it. If that means we'll be put in any danger, rest
assured that I won't let any harm come to you, if that's a possibility.
Miss Valeria, before we continue, is there any
language you would prefer to communicate in? I am well-versed in many,
so it would be of no inconvenience to me, but if it would make things
easier for you, then I will comply.
"

Kudos. Points for manners. Valeria had major 'props' for anyone who knew how to use manners and was in fact flattered by the man's words. Well, just as she was flattered, she was also annoyed to all hell. Her fingers moved, pinching her bridge before taking a deep breath. Audible, her sigh was forlorn and irritated. "Ah. I'm stuck with the one who is no fun. This will be a long night." Boring man and shopping. UGH! Her life was just TERRIBLE! Well- At least for the night. Then again, chances were there as well that time would turn it around. Tables could be flipped at any time. A couple of blinks later and she smiled at him. Naturally, she didn't expect a response, simply because he seemed the unresponsive type.

"Cretan is just fine."
Her voice hesitated, while her charm was flowing upon words. "Try to relax some. It'll just be a chore if you don't give some fun to it." After debating, she pushed her list into her pocket. Both hands buried in the warmth of slots that coats provided them. Where were they to go? Did Aurelius have a specific grocery store? Did he buy name-brand stuff? UGH! Why wasn't there more information on this? And Why on EARTH was she picked when everyone KNEW she hated shopping. This must be punishment. "Our fantastic task is grocery shopping. Do you know what store Aurelius usually goes to?" Casual conversation, while waiting on the man to respond.

"Valeria, wait up!" Can't that woman wait? All he did was go peruse the liquor stall nearby, and just like that she was gone. She was a good ways away before Nevski even noticed, galloping after her with what athletic ability he had, his ebony locks bashing him in the face and his blue jacket tattering in the wind as his combat boots ground against the gravel. She was already off on her own, and Nevski just had to be charged with security detail of this woman, while he could be nestling at the bottom of a vodka bottle, but no, grocery shopping...he had been assigned to guard a woman and her groceries....utter bullshit. Why...just because his staff was non-existent? Or because he had nothing better to do? Whatever it was, the vodka bottle in his hand hit his lips as he ran towards her, the warm libation fueling his movement, a burst in speed hitting his feet. Drachman Vodka put a fire in his belly like one wouldn't believe, but he finally was able to catch up with her, skidding to a halt as he took another swig.

"You left me again, Val! Wait up for your 'chauffeur', will ya?" Nevski hadn't worked up a sweat just yet, he was in too good a shape to, but his annoyance was clear in his emerald eyes as he stared down at her. This woman... aggravated him to no end today but he was just glad to get out of the mountains, he could refuel his private vodka stock. But, just as protocol dictated, the target came first, so he'll have to do it after this little chore was over. His hands were flaring underneath his leather gloves. He dared not remove them, but his face was in a slight grimace as he stowed the bottle in his cargo pants' pocket, waving to Daemon as if it were an afterthought.

"Cretan is just fine."

There was a slight hesitation.

"Try to relax some. It'll just be a chore if you don't give some fun to it."

Tilting his head ever so slightly to let her know that he had caught on to her meaning, he remained silent. He didn't think there was much point in saying anything further for the time being. Not that he knew how to respond, as the concept of "fun", like many other such concepts, were simply definitions in his memory, placed there to allow him to understand the way that the majority of the world's population functioned. Having been cut off from such a life from the very start, he couldn't sympathize, but it made no difference to him. Chores were chores, and whether fun was involved or not, he would have to consider it a mission of sorts.

"Our fantastic task is grocery shopping. Do you know what store Aurelius usually goes to?"

At that, the tall chimera had to wonder why he had been sent. Surely grocery shopping didn't pose any danger of physical harm that would require an escort. The only possibility, in his mind, was that he was needed to grab the items off of the top shelves. After all, there weren't many people at or over seven feet tall, so it was likely that was what was required of him. Nonetheless, he had no complaints to speak of. Nor did he have the slightest idea where they would go. Or so he originally thought. Surprisingly enough, he did recall a rather large grocery store, one that was frequently bustling with activity. He reasoned that Aurelius chose such a location because it was easy to remain more or less anonymous when in a sea of people. Before he could voice his thoughts on the matter, however, he noticed the sound of approaching footsteps. Judging by the weight they seemed to carry with them and the time between each one, he guessed it was a man. On further examination, or rather, by using echolocation, it seemed he was more or less correct. Once the individual in question spoke, Daemon knew for certain.

"You left me again, Val! Wait up for your 'chauffeur', will ya?"

Chauffeur? It seemed that Daemon wasn't the only one that was sent to keep an eye on things. Was there any reason to perhaps distrust the girl, instead? He recalled, from his days studying various militaristic strategies, that it was common to assign multiple escorts when the target of said escorts could not be trusted one hundred percent. Then again, there was no hint of any sort of hidden agenda. Another fact he recalled was that women were more likely to be assaulted, and though he didn't doubt Valeria's abilities to defend herself, when they were in a position such as this, it could make things much more dangerous than for most. Nonetheless, he couldn't draw any true conclusions as he hadn't the slightest clue who the man was, nor would he find out by pure deduction alone. There was only so much one could infer without a fair amount of information. Disregarding the man's words to Val, he turned to the latter to relay his thoughts on the store to her.

"Though I don't know the name of the place, Miss, I do recall a store that I once accompanied Master Aurelius to. If I'm not mistaken...it's not far from here. Is the list long? We might want to gauge our time in order to get this done in as little time as possible." Concentrating on his surroundings, the tall man cast his face about, as though listening for something. To the others, it would appear that Daemon was looking around, but the holes where his eyes would have been were just that - holes. It didn't take a rocket scientist to discover that he wasn't truly looking, as he had no eyes to see with. Instead, he was getting a better idea of the intersection and the surrounding roads and buildings, but even a radio would only faintly pick up the frequency of the sounds subtly emitted by him. Occasionally his mouth moved ever so slightly, but that was out of necessity. After all, it was difficult to produce sound and listen for the reverberations if his mouth was closed.

"You left me again, Val! Wait up for your 'chauffeur', will ya?" Val's purple eyes turned to the man. They dipped up, they fell down, they rolled and then her body turned away. The twist made her long brown hair splay lightly and then fall again at her shoulders. "If you can't keep up, you shouldn't have come." Was it cruel of her to say? Possibly. Then again, Valeria wasn't known for generous words or a kind smile. When in Drachma, who did she have to hide from? She was a part of RIOTE, she was a DEFENDER of RIOTE. Hell they should worship the very floor she stepped on. Maybe, some did. Her eyes were cold and unfeeling for a moment. The gnashing beast in her stomach was unsated by her desires and it was tempting just to grab her blade and cut down the piss-ant. Unfortunately, no matter how tempting it was, she was to just idly accept his company just as the really tall man's.

"Though I don't know the name of the place, Miss, I do recall a store that I once accompanied Master Aurelius to. If I'm not mistaken...it's not far from here. Is the list long? We might want to gauge our time in order to get this done in as little time as possible."
Her new friend explained. It seemed he was enjoying this as much as she was, which was to say, very little. The woman sighed and began to unravel the list. A few notable items unfurled to her waist, the list decently long, but most common and easy to find. Val blinked a couple times and finished looking down the list before rounding off numbers. There was a good twenty items or so on the list.

"Let's see.. there's a good dozen of items." Val explained as she counted them by twos once more, before refolding the list and returning it to her pocket. Her violet eyes swayed to meet Nevski, before going back to Mr. Tall. Her arms crossed and she released the soft sound of a sigh. "Well, lead the way, Senior Ramone." She cooed in her kind voice, not wishing to make this too unpleasant. She knew Nevski would make it a hell for her, though. Unfortunate as that was.
