Neverending Hatred

Post by Guest on Thu Aug 09, 2012 11:50 pm

Patrolling the streets never got old for her. It was sort of common, really. Yet, the mundane activity kept her out of the house enough that she wasn't insane. Blue eyes on the world, stoic face and uniform. She was the same, time changed and she didn't. It was as if the world simply held a finger on her and let everything else rush by. Everyday was a battle and yet moments like this made her feel better. Every good thing would come to an end and yet, she wasn't worried about it. Content, that was as close to happiness she could usually get. Anything more was pushing it. In fact, the only thing keeping her mind off of suicidal thoughts was work. It was all she had, all she took pleasure in. Otherwise, she was overwhelmed in the mass needs of her parents. They were so damn clingy, Deity didn't know how to breathe. Constantly, she was suffocating on the goals and wants of everything they wanted.

Not much was happening. Kids scampered around and the sun dawdled on the edge of the world. Parents ushering the small people back home while the fireflies slipped from beneath the noses of everyone. When had they come out of hiding was such an interesting thought and yet, like wind, was unseen. Such a relaxed day, one without much going on. A week that wasn't too terrible. In all it seemed to be a kind of day one would enjoy. The clouds above changed to a pinkish color with the sunset and a rainbow of warm colors blended with the darkness of the oncoming moon. Scents of humidity beginning to mingle with cool night air, making it almost cold compared to the normal warm days.

Unfortunately, this meant her day was almost over. Soon, she would return to the world she disliked and fall asleep hugging a pillow to her chest while patiently waiting for the next day. Time went too slow, as if tormenting her with its hands. Such a cruel thing. A moment passed and she closed her eyes. Standing still, she turned her attention to a nearby sidewalk, looking around. One last walk around and she'd head home. One last block and she'd be good. At least that was what she told herself.

A drumming fist to the ribs. An elbow to the face. A kick to the shin. A fist to the cheek. A knee to the stomach.

Such was the life of Pancake, effortlessly raining blow upon blow on the very much hapless opponents. Ten men, Pancake thought. Ten men with knives and bats and alcohol swilling in their systems. A single fighter, even a soldier, would usually balk at such odds, but for Pancake this was merely standard practise. An activity as casual and common as smoking. Only three remained now, the others either on the floor, curled up in pain, or had run away in fear. One charged to the soldier, a wide grin on Pancake's face as he dodged the swing of a baseball bat with a simple duck, following up with an uppercut that smashed into his chin. He was flung away. The next came with a knife, stabbing out to Pancake's gut. Pancake simply grabbed the man with his four tendrils and lifted him off the ground, before twisting every single one. A collection of snapping sounds were made present, before Pancake quickly got bored of crushing the man's bones and flung him to one side. One more to go. He charged, arms open as the man simply lost all the will to fight and ran. Pancake was fast enough to catch up, however, and delivered a 1-2 punch that flung him back like a ragdoll.

Stillness took over. The fight was over as soon as it had started with a simple shift of Pancake's neck, causing a satisfying crack to emit. He enjoyed that - something to remind himself that he was alive and to keep himself awake. Otherwise, he'd spend the entire week loafing around his flat and not doing anything. He walked over to a plastic bag in the middle of the alleyway, most of the contents smashed beyond a bottle of Irn Bru, which he picked up. His tentacles slammed into the nearest wall as he pulled himself up, like a spider scaling a wall, reaching the top of the building in no time at all, taking a sip of the orange drink, the colour of it matching the sky that surrounded the setting sun.

"It's days like this that make you feel alive." He muttered to himself, panting from the adreneline and walking over to the other side of the rooftop lazily, perching himself on the side with his legs hanging over. He curiously eyed the city, it's multitude of streets and roads and car horns and shouts promising endless chaos, if only the night would descend and bring out the real fighters. Finishing the Irn Bru he had stolen, Pancake dropped the empty bottle over the edge casually, boredly eyeing the skyline and beyond.

The walk had continued, but something was off. Passing by an alley, she could hear noises usually related to fighting. How wonderful, this meant she had to get involved. Her feet stopped and her head turned to look down. The blue orbs surveyed the horror before her. Bodies on the floor, bats and knives littered the ground. A mysterious victor nowhere in sight? Perhaps he had felt the scene? A bright person would never stay on their crime scene. What she had to do first was obviously call an ambulance. Leaving these men on the streets like this was not an option. So from her purse, she flipped open the phone and swiftly pressed the three digit code.

"Yes. Ten men down in the alley between Anderson Street and Louis Road. Yes, a rescue vehicle will be needed. A few look alive." The usual questions were asked as she paced he way down through the mangled mess of bodies. This all would probably not be worth it. So many times she called for the results of a drunken brawl turned chaotic fight. After she finished with her questions, she hung the cell phone up, she paced the block, seeking a possible culprit or maybe a victim that had fled before being beat senseless. Upon making a u-turn around the block, she came nearly to where she had been. A noise fluttered on her ears and she looked up. Feet dangling on a roof....? What?

Her voice called out in its normal irritated fashion, seriousness flooding her words. "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to come down here." Her best attempt at being assertive without sounding like she would kill him.. or maybe her? Either way, she stared hard at the legs, waiting for the person to respond in the normal fight or flight tactic. Normally they ran which was such a hassle. It was always irritating to chase down a suspect, especially when they WERE innocent. It made her wonder if they were so innocent then why the hell did they run? A hand tried to push the sand-colored hair out from her face, to no avail. It didn't matter really, wasn't like she could see through that eye anyways.

"Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to come down here." Pancake didn't dare divert his eyes to the woman who addressed him, mainly because he instantly recognised her. The one person he's met more than anyone else in Creta, he thought to himself. And it was her. Some humourless, stuck-up, weak-willed goat. He didn't know why she kept bumping into him, or how to make her stop, short of a blunt object. Why couldn't she be more like Morgana? Pancake liked her; she had a little spunk. Had enough fight in her to push back against him, the most fun people. She wasn't afraid to throw a fist. Unlike the woman who stood below him. She just boiled his blood, but in a boring way; she'd happily shovel shit, but she didn't have the power to back it up. The idea that someone so weak, someone so low, would still consider herself on Pancake's level irritated him, but maybe today she'd finally learn the problems with taking him lightly. His tendril smacked into the corner of the brickwork, unrooting a large chunk of brick and mortar and causing it to fall towards her, just so she knew who it was she was dealing with.

"Make me." Pancake said, before casually lying across the wall, not seeming to care that much about her. After all, why not show how above her she was, either embarressing her or crushing her without looking as if he broke a sweat? Petty, yes, or at least to anyone but Pancake himself. To him, it was completely justified. After all, no one bosses him around. "So, you're sticking your nose in other people's business now?" He asked calmly, toying with one of his tentacles boredly. "Tell me how that works out for you."

A brick came slamming down, luckily she had jumped back. Reaction times were amazing and now, she shot daggers towards the man. This man really knew how to boil her blood. Normally she could control herself- keep herself maintained, but around him.. What was it? Envy he had such a care free life? Anger that he deliberately broke the laws he could? There was no reason yet, but the anger was there. Something that burned beneath her irises, something that wished she'd never see him again, but she ALWAYS ran into him. It was like they were the last people in Creta, a bit of an exaggeration, but it simply showed she'd seen him one times too many. Then again, with him, ONE time was too many.

"Make me."

......... Something inside of Deity snapped. Her eyes twitched and from her course, she pulled her gun. "So, you're sticking your nose in other people's business now? Tell me how that works out for you." She couldn't even hear his words. Raging fires of anger flew through her. This punk-ass bastard. She'd given him the benefit of the doubt the past few times they met, but now, it was ridiculous. She was tired of cutting him slack and letting herself off the chain before she struck. Even if the battle was a losing one, if he got the point then maybe his arrogant demeanor was something that could be reconciled. Of course- she wouldn't commit her crime without reason-

"I'll consider this assaulting an officer." She sneered unpleasantly before unloading two rounds towards the man on the building. BANG! BANG! Shit, there went two more bricks out from under him. At least she had okay aim. Nothing precise, but good enough to take a man down on normal levels, but of course this wasn't the case. Instead it was off from the aim at his arm and dislodged the brick he was leaning on instead. She hoped he fell.. she really hoped her fell on his head. The second bullet actually went towards where she aimed. Her blue eyes were furrowed with annoyance and the slightest of smiles sat on her lips. She was enjoying this. The only emotion she felt was the ill will she wanted upon this man. For once she took it upon herself. "By the way, this IS my business." She stated in a condescending tone, before but it translated into 'Go fuck yourself'. Such a fucking child. He was arrogant and little to her. His acting so high above her was at the moment what she bloamed.

Bang! Bang! Hot lead pounded through the air towards Pancake, causing nothing close to a reaction from Pancake. Snore, he thought. Deity was not someone he considered trigger happy, but it wasn't even as if he had pushed her at all. No, simple name calling and she resorted to guns. No threshold. However, he did react to a brick passing away from under his elbow, causing him to lurch violently towards the ground. His tendrils yanked onto the wall, holding in place, until he fell a foot or two again; the second bullet smacked into the brick under the closest brick, dislodging it. He swung out of control; nothing to stop it, he was falling. Pancake reached out forward; he could at least control his fall. The tendrils smacked into the walls like spider legs, carrying him lower and putting holes into the wall as he scaled it downwards. He eventually reached Deity and irritably wrapped a tentacle around her waist, before hoisting her up into the air, a good thirty feet off the ground. He made sure to hang her upside down, so she was even more uncomfortable, then he lied back, stretching his arms casually.

"I sense a little hostility." He said, not bothering to move her or himself, hanging off the wall by two tentacles burrowed in the brick, digging into the building and back out, coiled thick and hard. His only free tentacle was spread out. "Look, I think you just take things a little too seriously." Pancake explained, knowing that the more casual he treat her, the worse and worse she'd be. He wanted her to know that he didn't even think of her, that she was a speck to him, a dot on the map. He then began to very precariously pass her from tentacle to tentacle with a dangerous hurl. "I mean, does anyone like you? Really? You drone at lot, you're humourless, you're not even hot and, let's face facts, you're kind of stupid." The juggling became more and more ambitious with time, though this meant that Pancake paid even less attention to her position. He was spinning her in the air with every throw and hardly even looking. "I don't even know what you do. You're just a non-entity. You have no chance in hell with who you're messing with here, you're that small. So answer me, how is this your business, you small, small." Pass. "- little." Pass. "- girl." Spin and pass.

Deity felt instantly terrible for her actions. The sliver of emotion that was felt caused her to actually endanger the man's life. She had thought for a moment with hope that he'd hit his head and there he was, falling. Her heart stopped and guilt settled in. She was unsure how to respond, she simply stood there, paralyzed in both shock and fear. The man- Was he going to die? Her heart was pounding hard and fast while she watched him, but in a second's moment, he was caught on the wall. Those tendrils were keeping him from getting severely messed up and now, she was upset at herself for even worrying about the little fucker. Her brow furrowed a moment and she looked away.

Suddenly the world was speeding past and she felt ground leave her feet. Not again. She groaned mentally as she was held by her waist high off the ground. Good thing she wasn't afraid of heights, but the way the land was a good bus-length from the ground, she couldn't help but be slightly terrified. Her heart was racing fast enough, Deity thought she would choke upon it. Her eyes closed and she could feel blood rush. Her hair falling forward and she was upside down again. She could admit, she did deserve it. Though, this man took things to the extreme (as was expected of him).

"I sense a little hostility. Look, I think you just take things a little too seriously."
Ugh was he going to LECTURE her? RIDICULOUS! Deity clutched her eyes closed as the man began to pass her and spin her like a child's toy. Her body would experience extreme whiplash later and her skin could feel the stressing pain NOW. Her whole body moved about like a roller coaster. "I mean, does anyone like you? Really? You
drone at lot, you're humourless, you're not even hot and, let's face facts, you're kind of stupid."
He had rights to his own opinion. She couldn't blame him for it. It hurt though, the truth always did. Deity grimaced and attempted to fight it back, the tears that hardened in her throat. Don't let him get to you. Practice breathing and- "I don't even know what you do. You're just a non-entity. You have no chance in hell with who you're messing with here, you're that small. So answer me, how is this your business, you small, small little girl." -She couldn't breathe. Her stomach was churning, she felt dizzy and her blood circulation was rolling at random like a ripple effect. Ugh her head hurt so much.

"It- is my business. I have to make sure- things are in check." Attempting to hold her cool while being rolled around by a jester. It was ineffective. Her blue eyes opened to see the world blurring by again and she could feel it swirling and spinning. Instantly, she snapped them shut again. Was she going to hurl? No, probably not, but a nasty migraine was shooting her in the head. "Put me down!" She shouted. This was undignified, irritating and yet she had no control. Just like always. She had no control. Tears were biting at her, but she'd control them, swallowing them more as she hastened a look at the man for a moment. "I may be dull and boring to you, but at least I do my job in all seriousness. I don't see why you can be such a prick if it's YOUR own fault you're in trouble all the goddam time!" Well it was kind of a point and kind of just her venting. Yet she was serious.

"If you would follow the law, you wouldn't have to DEAL with me. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out, Sherlock." Her voice as demanding as always was smothered in sarcasm and obvious annoyance. She closed off her eyes from the world and grimaced. This was irritating and sickening. She could barely focus.
