       BIRTH PLACE:
→ The outskirts of Philly, Creta

       RACE:
       → Cretan.

       DATE OF BIRTH:
       → August 1st, 1989.

       → 171.5 lbs

       PICTURE:

Spoiler:

      DESCRIPTION:
→ Rachel Ascot has a wide grin on her face almost 24/7, with a deadly glint in her auburn eyes to match. She styles her black hair into almost a bulb shape around her head, with only a few thick strands breaking the pattern, such as her fringe and at the back of her head. Her skin is the colour of wood, a deep, thick, rich brown that matches her eyes. She's not so much short, but she is stocky and curvaceous, looking a little shorter and younger than she actually is. The clothes she most often wears is her blue jacket, with her self-adopted symbol on each sleeve; a red cross within a circle. Her voice is a soothing one, the calmness of her nature seeping into it, a low humming contralto tone. Her stride and her actions are filled with confidence, every motion of hers deliberate and with purpose.

       ...........................................................................

       PERSONALITY:
→ Rachel Ascot's greatest trait, skill and advantage is her charisma, and she is very experienced in using it to get what she wants. She spends much of her time mingling with both the cream of society and the masses and can play both to her will. She's an immediate presence in the room, a wildness in her eyes and a confidence in her stride - she's a playgirl in many ways, a lust of life flowing through her bones and an infectious sense of fun. She's an eccentric and a party animal, but one who also acts with enough confidence in her life to look wise, making her difficult to not like. Most of all, she was blessed with the gift of the gab; the way she speaks and the words she chooses always seem the right ones to charm and impress, either being friendly and personable or grand and awe-inspiringly powerful.

Rachel certainly has the brains to back her words up; she's wily, sly and calculating, with a cool head on her shoulders. She has a knack for reading people and can immediately use that to her advantage, often pegging people before they even speak to her. Her plans are few and far between, but each one is earth-shatteringly complex, some spanning years and even decades to come into fruition, and she's quick to adapt to new circumstances. She's a wildcard, certainly, but not a hothead; Rachel accounts for the plots of others and happenings of simple bad luck by being simultaneously completely unflappable and wholly unpredictable. She's never been known not to have a grin on her face, calm and collected at all times and able to keep on track, but she also has a hint of insanity that makes her dangerous to match wits with and doubly dangerous to try and plan around; if someone attempts to pull one over on her, they can expect her to act completely against every expectation.

However, her faults are certainly not small in number, the biggest one being a product of her upbringing. She's reactive rather than proactive, and has always slipped into the right place rather than worked towards it. In short, she's lazy. Exceedingly so. She'd rather party all day and night, and simply have the world leave her to it. This also means that, rather than learning new skills when she has to take responsibility for something, she'd rather let others take control and not bother with them. She also has a tendancy to underestimate the importance of a lot of things that she's not interested or involved in, whether it actually matters or not. Despite this, she won't underestimate specific people, but only the fields they might be involved in.

Since her rise to power, Rachel's become known as the leader who acts least like royalty. Rather than downplay her eccentricity, she's brought it front and centre, freely indulging in the wildest excesses and maddest nonsense she can afford. Some think it's an act to throw her opponents off. Some think that Rachel's finding it difficult to give up the life of the party. Some think she's just an unhinged loon.

The truth is simply that she enjoys it.

Rachel's since bought an elephant, a loving companion by the name of Samson, a creature that her other bodyguard Franklin doesn't approve of.

       LOVE:
       → Fun
       → Partying
→ Esparian cigars (though she's devoted herself to quitting)
       → Drachman vodka
       → Money
       → Talking to people
       → Making new friends
       → Using people
→ Submission wrestling and Brazilian Ju-jitsu (mostly as a spectator)
→ Attention and being in the crowd
       → Annoying everyone around her

       HATE:
      → Cooking
       → Particularly hard work
       → People who aren't fun
       → Frederick Ascot
       → Studying

       ...........................................................................

       HISTORY:
→ Her half brother Levi worked for his place in the world. Rachel simply slid into it.

While neither of the two children found about the affair their mother had that had conceived the pale boy, the writing was on the wall. While Frederick Ascot treat Levi with apathy at best and outright hostility at worst, he attempted to mold Rachel into the perfect child; everything was given to her, she was sent to club after club, given a parade of lessons and help with her studies, and even for her young mind she noticed that her younger brother didn't get close to half of the privileges she was given. She took pity; she quite liked her red-eyed brother, and was a lot kinder than her father was to him. As for Frederick himself, he was blindly giving Rachel everything despite just how little she seemed to care, and it took years for him to realise that there was a problem. Despite his increasingly desperate measures, Rachel almost refused to excel at anything; while her brother was lauded as a child prodigy, Rachel was considered lazy, simply floating through school with barely average grades despite obviously being quite smart, a bored expression plastered onto her face. While Frederick made excuses such as boredom, the teacher's inability or simply that Rachel was a genius, it became increasingly frustrating to him that he had given everything he could do his precious daughter and she had nothing to show for it. The ropes holding the family together finally snapped when Levi got a scholarship for one of the more prestigious universities in Creta and left, while his older sister simply stayed at home and willingly let the greatest opportunities she could ask for slip through her fingers. The son he purposefully ignored and despised was going onto greatness, while the daughter he showered with praise was, for now, going nowhere. In a fit of rage, Frederick marched into Rachel's room and forced her out of the house, telling her to "... make something of yourself already!"

He was yet to realise how much he'd learn to regret saying those words.

It's mostly for this reason that Rachel never saw Levi when he returned to Creta with Randolph, her adoptive nephew who she didn't even know existed. She was by herself, without anyone to turn to, and decided that she would make sure her father ate his words. She learnt little from her formative years, but she knew she only needed one skill; the gift of the gab. She moved to London, knowing the big city would hold the connections she needed to plough her way to greatness, and slid her way into a job as bellhop in one of the more upmarket hotels in London. Specifically, the hotel many of Creta's richest men and women, the lords and ladies of the land, the cream of Creta. Rachel hoped that with her personable charm she could find a better job with one of them and simply fall into an easy, high paying job, so she quickly made herself as friendly and as charismatic as she could. What happened instead of a job, howver, was something she didn't even think could happen; she ended up becoming one of them. A lowly bellhop was apparently charming enough to consider worth having around, and she made contacts. She made friends. She was invited to places and parties, becoming more and more famous within the world of the wealthy. She was fun to speak to, fun to have around, and knew both how to make others feel good about themselves and how to enjoy herself; she slipped right into it, despite being a bellhop on dirt pay. Dirt pay, that is, without all the outrageous tips she got. Given her friends in high places, soon she rose to be the co-manager of the hotel despite no prior experience or even qualifications beyond school level. Then she became the manager of one of the ballrooms her rich friends frequented, and suddenly Rachel started meeting even more people from all walks of life; she let the rich have their jamborees, and let the public into the ballroom too. The parties at her new penthouse weren't to be scoffed at either. As she made more and more friends, gained more and more connections, saw more people and heard more secrets, it wasn't long until Rachel became one of the most well-known faces in London. She had made something of herself alright.

In fact, she wasn't done yet.

Her circle of friends only widened, her breadth of influence increased exponentially, but it reached its nadir when a strange letter came into the post. When she read it, she knew what she had to do; she photocopied it, wrote a small note on the photocopy and sent it to the Ascot household to her father. Frederick read it and was horrified. His daughter, the daughter who he had wasted his life trying to get her to succeed to no available, whose laziness had dragged her down, had just been made an honourary duchess, with a note tauntingly saying "Made it." That night, in depression and rage, Frederick got drunk and drove off into the night. Though it's suspected he died in a car crash, neither his car nor his body have ever been found. Rachel didn't really care what happened to him; after all, he left her to her own devices and she did far better than ever before. As far as she was concerned, abandoning her was the nicest thing he ever did.

The final chapter in the rise of Rachel Ascot, now Duchess Ascot, is a short one. When the current king and prime minister Dietrich fell into a coma and left no heir, Rachel saw that the House of Lords refused to have anyone who wasn't someone they knew sitting on the throne. They'd refuse flatly to take anyone that they didn't know and trust, or could manipulate. Rachel saw her chance and, like all her other achievements, simply slid into place. But the moment they had her in, they regretted it. They found that Rachel, the friend of their sons and daughters who owned a diddy night club, was no pawn to be manipulated.

She had her own plans.

Rachel's speech at the coronation was one of new beginnings, but filled with anger and compassion. She proudly boasted that she was no slave to tradition or to corporate corruption. It was a rousing speech that won her the popularity of the common man and woman, fear from the businessfolk she railed against, and mild amusement from many of the other world leaders, who saw it as idealistic and naive. Rachel, though, was anything other than naive; she began to subtly but rapidly gather cards into her hand, playing the part of the eccentric if not completely mad queen of Creta who yes could charm her way into the hearts of millions but probably didn't have too much of a plan, all while she tightened her grasp on Creta, the royal status increasingly no longer only symbolic but more and more involved with the running of Creta itself. Numerous attempts to shake her from the throne proved futile; she was too popular with the people to get rid of. Her words were inspiring, and her honesty refreshing. She was one of them; the common folk. She couldn't be destroyed without causing serious damage to one's self, damage none of her enemies dared risk. And it was all her plan from the beginning; she knew that she was invincible, and laughed at those who wanted that to not be true. Rachel was here to stay.

Still, she wasn't really planning on acting on her words, they thought. She can't possibly carry the impossible dream of total peace by herself... right?

At first, Rachel might have agreed, but she was a fast learner and began to see all the cracks in the masks of those around her. In particular, an attempted bombing of Carraig's spaceship at an Amestrian festival, and Rachel stumbling upon the true culprit of the would-be sabotage. In that day, she saw just how close to the brink of worldwide war the world still was, and something she said just to make herself so popular that she couldn't be attacked was now her duty to the world, and something she honestly wanted to achieve...

... and most important, it was entirely possible.

Under the table, Rachel started using her cards. She didn't reveal the culprit of the bombing, but held onto that nugget of information, waiting for the day to play it. In the meantime, she made a series of elusive and profitable deals with Carraig and had become a secret personal ally to Gavin, and strengthened her ties to Amestris and Aerugo. All in the effort of making friends of friends, and increasing her fellow leaders' reliance on her and each other. Even when the Deadlight Virus hit, Rachel wasn't put out of her stride, using RIOTE's weakened state to snatch the Drachman seas away from them, and taking in many Drachman refugees into Creta. Suddenly Creta went from a weakened, smaller country into one of the biggest economic powers in the world. Plus, the virus meant that everyone was in the same boat, hoping to cure the virus and save each other from disaster. While not through circumstances she wished or could control, Rachel had the unification that she wanted.

Now her challenge is to keep it that way.
