It was a small crowd today. That really irked the nerves of one particular bishop. It was the Sunday before EASTER, for Christ's sake! And she counted exactly thirteen people seated at the pews. Pews that seated a grand total of nearly two hundred. How. Why. She didn't even want to KNOW why so many people skipped their Sunday morning sermon... Oh, she'd crack down HARD next time... The usual Easter sermon everybody always loved could be chopped down a bit. In half. Her hour long Easter story could be told in five minutes, leaving a nice fifty-five minutes to make everybody feel awful, non?~ No matter. At least people CAME. And in fact, one man seemed like he didn't come often, as she hadn't seen him around. True, she traveled between Philly and the Vatican regularly, so he may not be so new. But there was always the possibility. Could even be a tourist, or someone visiting Creta on business or something, for all she knew. Everybody had their own story, and it tended to come to her interest.

She wrapped up the sermon with a prayer, crossed herself, and dismissed the congregation, noting that all filed out, perhaps after a word with her, or amongst themselves, but one. He seemed to be waiting for the rest to leave before even rising from the pew. With a smile, Lily stepped down from the altar, shedding her robes in favor of the more comfortable sun dress underneath. As she placed the robes under the podium, she spoke in the calm and soothing tone she took on after preaching. "Hope you don't mind me not being dressed for my job right now, haha~ Love the robes and all, but they get hot and itchy after a while." Turning now, she walked over to the man with a well-practiced grace. He looked Drachman, by facial features, so she took the inference and after taking a seat next to him, spoke in the language she assumed he spoke. "So, do you have anything on your mind? Anything you wanted to talk about, that is?"

Fairly casual questions, as far as most would be concerned, particularly for a Caelistic church. Not to mention the fact she wasn't wearing the robes of one of the cloth, and was merely seated beside him, not in the confessional. But Lily was a casual person. A high-society casual person, but casual, nonetheless. It made things easier, honestly; people connected with her more, liked her sort of grassroots down-to-earth method of one-on-one spiritual advice. Made people feel they were talking to someone on equal status with them, not so uncomfortable. Plus, it made her life a little easier; she honestly disdained formality, despite tradition requiring it for her job, her life. But psh. She wanted casual, she had casual!~

Nevski hadn't sat in a pew in God knows how long. It was so quiet here, but he thought that was due to the attendance number. He guessed with as much shit as the world was going through, people had more worries than faith. Nevski never was a religious man, but when he got off his jet and walked through the Cretan streets, he came across this church. He had things to ask. Favors. Important favors. Something that only a miracle could solve.

So, he had his gloves off, scarred hands folded behind the pew. The last time he prayed was after Nikita's incident, her leg in pieces. His prayers today were the same as they were then. For Nikita. But....there were prayers for himself as well. For his actions. For lives he'd taken. For forgiveness, for penance. His head was bowed, long ebony bangs making curtains around his face. Many shuffled out of the church but he stayed. There was alot more praying to do. Then a voice sounded. "Hope you don't mind me not being dressed for my job right now, haha~ Love the robes and all, but they get hot and itchy after a while." He looked up to see this woman, blonde and...charming in a sundress, holding robes in her hands. The priestess. She then started speaking in his native language.

"So, do you have anything on your mind? Anything you wanted to talk about, that is?" He hid his hands immediately, stuffing them in the pockets in his jacket. Didn't need her seeing those now. He just kind of looked out to the stain glassed windows and began to speak to her as she sat beside him. "My sister. I've been worried about her for months now, she's still in the hospital after th-nevermind....She's been on the waiting list for years for automail prosthesis. I send her what money I can to live, but she...she needs a miracle. That's why I came here. I'm not that much of a religious man, sister, but...she can use whatever help I can give her. As can I..." His hands squeezed in his pockets. His voice trailed as he stared at the angel in with window. Maybe he could help him.

Lily listened as he spoke, nodding along to what he said. It was actually a pretty common predicament, at face value; man goes to church, man prays, man has sick/injured relative, man tells priest, priest prays for man and relative. On to the next one. But no, Lily wasn't like that. She'd preached to countless people, seeing as she flitted from church to church like an indecisive shopper in the world's biggest mall's dressing room. Still, however, she spoke to each as an individual, as if she were their very best friend, not a stranger, or at best, a highly respected authority figure. To her, it seemed he cared deeply about his sister, (Oooooh, she knew the feeling, SO much.) needs to get her some automail, and is praying for a miracle. She placed a kind hand on his shoulder, cramming another hand into her wallet, drawing out a handsome five Benjamins, placing them in his hand with a smile. "Well, this is probably the most direct way I can help you!~ I know exactly how you feel; if my brother were in a similar spot, I'd give up everything to help him." Hmm... Well, money was certainly helpful, as was sharing a bit of empathy to his plight. But that was just a start.

"So what exactly is she in the hospital for? Like, why does she need automail? Sorry if it sounds a bit nosy, you don't have to answer anything you don't want to, I mean." Flashing a bit of an apologetic smile for possibly coming on a bit strong with the questions, she really was curious. It always was of interest of her to help people, and for that, she liked to know what she was helping and why, in specifics. It was her nature, her way. Old dog, no new tricks, y'know? "So, where are you from, Mr...? May want to come visit your sister myself, if you'd like, at some point."

Nevski's nose was one that was moderately trained. He knew the smells of various boozes, fuels, and bullets, but cash. Cash was a smell he remembered well and it was hovering by his face. He looked over. 5 green inventor faces, Benjamin Franklin, to be precise, were hovering by his cheek. That...was quite a hefty chunk of change. Why would she do this if not to give it to him? His own pride wouldn't take it, but his love of his sister forced his hand, curling burn scarred hands around the bill and into his pocket. He'd send this off as soon as he could.

Then it came. "So what exactly is she in the hospital for? Like, why does she need automail? Sorry if it sounds a bit nosy, you don't have to answer anything you don't want to, I mean." Well...shit. He thought this would come up. Might as well answer it. "Well...when I was kid, living was hard. Had to do things I wasn't to proud of. The guys I was working for came to collect, alchemists. They...speared off my sisters leg. She was 11 years old. She's been in and out of hospitals since then. They say the event was traumatic, as well as my not being there. But this is my life. Just like Dimitri, just like Domonic. I am Nevski Petrenko. From Volgograd. The Grand Raven of the Skies, nice to meet you."
