DESCRIPTION:
→ Gray is a bit shorter than most at 5'10". He has a lean build, is incredibly flexible, and is ridiculously acrobatic. He is a very handsome young man with medium length shaggy white hair and cold blue eyes. Above his left eyebrow is a terrible scar he received from a shrapnel attack while on a mission, however he usually keeps it covered with his bangs. It is still somewhat visible as it travels past down his eye and unto his upper cheek in a zig-zag. He believes it gives his young face character. In the same mission he also lost his left arm from his elbow down, and instead now has automail. Gray can usually be found smiling warmly when among friends. But around enemies he can adopt a very serious glare. He wears a standard issue military uniform under a white cloak with a fur lined hood. Of course if the occasion calls for it he can also be seen wearing civilian clothes. While it may seem like Gray doesn't take himself very seriously, if one pays close attention to his body language the opposite becomes apparent. All of his movements are very calculated and balanced. He'll rarely trips and his reflexes are amazing. He moves with the grace of a gymnast and the confidence of a boxer. He tries to hide it, but because of all of his training his body language betrays him.



PERSONALITY:
→ Like most people in the world, Gray is a multidimensional character. One side of Gray is truly happy and go lucky, loves to go with the flow, and dislikes confrontation. And if the world was not such a brutal place, perhaps this would be his only side. Instead he also has another, much darker, side to him. Gray can be manipulative and dangerous. He has his own goals and will not hesitate to cut down anyone who stands in his way. He will lie, cheat, and kill, to accomplish what he must. He doesn't enjoy or condone unnecessary violence, but understands it is sometimes the only way.

He is a very secretive person and won't often talk about himself or his past. Instead he'll gladly listen to others and genuinely find interest in their stories and life. Because of this most people like Gray. He listens closely and tries his best to help out in anyway he can. This can get him in trouble sometimes, but he rarely minds. He isn't much for competition, unless he is forced into it, which then he tries his best. Overall he doesn't like to upset people and will often go out of his way to help others.

The only things he takes seriously are his missions and love. He is a true soldier and a true lover. He is fiercely loyal to his county and is fiercely loyal to those he loves. Even though he is still young, he has already experienced much loss in his life. He strives to never lose anyone important to him again and to rid the world of the endless cycle of bloodshed in which it has found itself. He still isn't very sure how he will make that happen, but between his Alchemy skills and Military skills he hopes to become strong enough to one day make his dream come true.

DEEPEST SECRET:
→ That the legends about homunculi are in fact true. That over one hundred years ago a horrible being called "Father" created artificial humans with monstrous powers. In the end this evil was defeated by the legendary state alchemist Edward Elric. This secret was given to Gray by his grandfather shortly before he passed away. And Gray is convinced this secret will be the key to ending this world's endless cycle of violence.

HISTORY:
→ Gray was born on the northern outskirts of Vaingloria, Gelemorté on a cold snowy night. He was born to two loving parents who met and fell in love in Amestris. His mother was an exchange student from Gelemorté studying history in Central City when she met a young alchemist who was half Gelemortian and half Amestrisian. He was from a different part of Gelemorté originally but had grown up in Central City his whole life. It was love at first sight, and it wasn't long before the two became married. After completing school Gray’s mother received a teaching position in a large university in Vaingloria, prompting her and Gray’s father to move back to the homeland. Gray’s father brought along his own father since otherwise he would be all alone. So the small family moved into a tiny house and no sooner, Gray was born.

Gray was a wild and reckless child. He was fussy about everything, and never behaved. Only when he was around his grandfather did he relax. Something about the old man’s presence soothed him and allowed him to focus. His grandfather was smitten with Gray and happily looked after the boy while his parents worked. A little after he first learned how to read Gray began to learning alchemy from his grandfather, just as his father did before him. Alchemy had now become a family tradition. As Gray grew older the men of the family bonded over alchemic research, while Gray and his mother bonded over history lessons and philosophy. By twelve years old Gray was both well mannered, and by all accounts, brilliant. That is when he was chosen by a prestigious Ciel military school for their new accelerated track program.

The offer from the military excited Gray. He felt he could do very well and was partly inspired by his grandfather’s own military service record. But the thought of Gray joining the military bothered his grandfather. He didn’t trust the military or the political environment. He knew of the ugliness lurking throughout the world. And he just couldn’t bare to have his grandson exposed to such brutal truths. He finally threatened to destroy all of the family's research on alchemy if Gray decided to join the military. In the end Gray joined the military and his grandfather never destroyed the research.

Gray excelled within the military school. He fell in love with gymnastics and swordplay competition. Since he was no longer on speaking terms with his grandfather he stopped studying alchemy altogether and became normal infantry. There he worked up the ranks as a normal soldier. He spent the next four years training his body and mind in the art of war. He lead his class in gunmanship and gymnastics, but enjoyed swordplay the most. Everything was going great until his grandfather fell ill. Suddenly the void in their relationship was excruciating. How could he ever let their relationship degrade to such a point? Gray immediately went on leave and ran to his grandfather’s side.

On the night of his death Gray’s grandfather told him the reason why he was so adamant about him not joining the military. He explained that he knew deep down Gray wanted to protect those he loved and that's why the military attracted him. It was the same thing that drew him to military service all those years ago. His grandfather understood this. But it was more than that, bigger than that. Really what bothered him the most about Gray joining the military were things like homunculi and chimeras. He was all too familiar with a story about a boy saving Amestris and the the rest of world from a god-like monster. He knew this story to be true because his own grandfather was present for those final crucial moments when the corruption was finally defeated. And now with the official story being pushed aside, Gray’s grandfather felt like the evil might be on its way back. Everything his grandfather said about this "Father" and his homunculi shocked him, but it seemed so true. The old man shortly died there after.

This new knowledge only emboldened Gray. His resolve to make a difference in the world was never greater. Gray combined his military training with his alchemy plus new research left to him by his grandfather. Determined to climb the ranks of the Ciel Military he began to form himself as the perfect alchemic weapon. He took on incredibly dangerous missions and fought many battles, always keeping his grandfather in mind. This world was truly an unforgiving place, but Gray’s optimism never wavered.. Another four years later and Gray still serves in the military. He’s up for a promotion to a high ranking guard position. His abilities and prowess are well known, and so is his genuine character. He was almost high up enough to see now, but he still had a while to go. If the evil his grandfather spoke of ever returned, Gray would be ready and prepared to kill it.

3. Deepest Secret: Okay, so it's common knowledge that Ed defeated Father, however you right in stating that knowledge of the homunculi isn't known. I won't allow him to know about Philosopher's Stones because even people in FMA were limited to just Ed, Mustang, and a few others so Gray's grandfather wouldn't have been able to pick up on that. Him knowing about homunculi I'll accept because of his family's history.
