Sgt twinkle toes and samurai sweet tooth

Off duty.....off duty meant not being by Izanagi's side....

Off duty meant the person who held his heart was off with that woman....

That woman he wanted to hate so much...but Ryuji could never hate anyone. He wore his heart on his sleeve with the whole world staring except the one person who he wanted to see how he felt. No that man only saw Ryuji as his guard and that was it. And...it hurt truly...It had cast a dark cloud on the man. Changing the once happy go lucky red head into a shell of a person. One who seemed to just shuffle from one part of the palace to another. Following Izanagi with eye cast to the ground barely focusing on anything.

The other clue was the amount of sweets he had eaten. His normal training routine had been dropped. And the junk food he had a habit of munching had increased tenfold. The toned stomach had faded to become a slight pot belly. Not that Ryuji seemed to care about... maybe he would be seen as unfit for his role and dropped from his position.

This brought him to his current predicament. His shabby flat had run out of junk food. And Ryuji couldn't decide on what he was craving. Stood in the supermarket with the basket on his arm. Some pre-made sushi already sat that with a six pack of beer while he stared at the rows of chocolate in front of him while his eyes would flick to the ice cream freezer then to the chips. it was hard. what to gorge himself on...

Grocery shopping was a chore, but one of the ones that Ryuu enjoyed. Definitely more than cleaning the bathroom, that was for sure. It was something that just was a nice routine. He went through the weekly sales ad to see what was on sale and then made himself a list. The list was always short, focusing on the staples he needed to replenish. The rest of the food he bought for the week was all spur of the moment, deciding then and there at the store what he felt like eating. A little “young bachelor” to be sure, but he was a bachelor. Not exactly young anymore, but he didn't follow the typical bachelor diet. Boxed macaroni & cheese was unacceptable at this juncture in his life... although he did have a soft spot for TV dinners.

Ryuu was pleased with the purchases in his grocery cart at this time. A small stack of TV dinners, some fresh vegetables, fresh bread... it was a good start. He felt his sweet tooth teasing him, so he chose to head down the candy aisle next. Usually he was an “up and down each aisle” kind of shopper, but he was feeling a little spontaneous this time. Another man was in the aisle who seemed vaguely familiar to Ryuu, but he couldn't place it at the moment. Ryuu placed his cart to one side of the aisle to observe the chocolates. A bag of mini Snickers stared up at him. “Excuse me,” he cautioned as he cut across the man's vision to pick up his sweet snack.

Ryuji had barely noticed the man pull up beside him. The slight crease in his brow as a tad bit of his tongue tuck out in concentration as Ryuji mulled over his choices of sweet treat. Fumbling over his choices until reaching for a chocolate orange. He hadn't heard the other mans approach or utter the two words as both reached down.

CONK!

Ryuji's hard skull collided with the zebra streaked male. Dropping his basket Ryuji gripped his bright red hair cradling his aching head while muttering the odd curse while sucking the tongue he had bitten in a weak attempt to sooth it. 

As the aching rattle calmed, Ryuji opened his tear rimmed honey gold eyes to the poor man he must of given an concussion. His eyes widened when he reconised the man he had just basically headbutted.

The chief of police who held high respect on the streets and on the dance floor. Giving the other a sheepish smile while still nursing the forming bump, 'Ryuji's cheeks flushed a soft pink in embarrassment. "Ah...Ryuu...talk about bumping into you..." He had met the other in passing a few times then again he'd have to be dense to not know Ryuu and vice verser with the roles the pair played.

Ryuu resisted the urge to swear as the man's head and his head made vicious contact. His head snapped up as it started to throb, one hand going to the sore spot on his head. The other was still attached to the candy Ryuu had grabbed in the first place. He stumbled back a little, manging to place the candy into his cart before he looked up at his head-banging companion.

"Ah...Ryuu...talk about bumping into you..." Ah, so Ryūji was the culprit. Ryuu managed a small chuckle, rubbing his head a little. “Odd way of phrasing it, Ryūji. But yes, good to run into you.” Ryuu shook his head, glad to see that the dizzy feeling had faded, but the ache remained. Considering the impact, he suspected that a headache was going to be there for the rest of the day and night. As he righted himself, he noticed Ryūji's basket. “Stocking up, I see?” It was an odd assortment of foods, to be sure. But to each their own, really.
