PERSONALITY:
Jason is quick to act but quick to flee as well. He's not particularly skilled in a fight (outside of wildly swinging a wrench) or brave on his feet, but get him into a vehicle and he turns into a different person. Behind the wheel he’s brash and bold. He’s not afraid to take risks or perform risky feats knowing that he can repair the vehicle in route if necessary.

HISTORY:
About 25 years ago Jason’s father failed out of Alchemist training. He had the ‘talent’ for it but couldn’t seem to be able to wrap his head around the science of it all. He could perform simple transmutations, mending a broken toy, fixing a dinner plate stuff like that. Anything complicated though went right over his head. Instead he learned that what he couldn’t fix with his alchemy he could fix with a wrench. Settling in Dublith he opened a small aeromechanic garage. Soon after he met Jason’s mom and they started a family together. Complications during child birth caused Jason’s mom the ability to have any further children. Jason was to be an only child.
Jason’s father decided when Jason was born that he would have a better chance at life then he did. Knowing where his own weaknesses where he pushed Jason towards science at an early age. Being an only child both of Jason’s parents sacrificed comfort for them selves to give him the best in education sending Jason to a private school. Jason however had different interests. He felt more at home working with his dad in the garage converting old junkers into hotrods.
Around Jason’s twelfth birthday his dad finally gave in and allowed Jason to start working with him full time after school. Jason’s dad showed him the way around a car, simple stuff at first then more complicated jobs. Jason saw other ways to complete the tasks. Instead puttying and sanding holes in a car’s body a simple transmutation and some scrap metal would repair a body to look almost brand new. Soon he was able to surpass his dad’s alchemy talents and studied new methods on his own. Delighting in their son’s new interest Jason’s parents allowed him to open his own custom shop in an unused bay.
When Jason graduated from school his dad gave him both a present and an ultimatum. With the extra money that they earned with Jason’s help his parent had bought Jason a new car, but in order to be able to accept the gift Jason would have to close the custom shop and continue his studies. Jason’s parents suggested going to central and making a name for him self in the racing circuit. There where always racers looking for good customizers in the big cities. Studying under the mechanics there he would be able to get a level of experience that a small garage in Dublith couldn’t give him.
Jason traveled to central but found that instead of under the car he could make a name for himself in the car. Finding that sponsorships in sanctioned races is just more then walking into the nearest shop and asking them to pay for your ride Jason fell in with the illegal racing crowd. This is where he caught the eye of several ‘clients’. Since then Jason’s worked as a driver from everything as simple as ‘Take Mr. Bigshot from point A to point B’ to wheelman in bank heists to jobs where you’re better off not asking too many questions. He’s even suspected that he’s unofficially worked for the government a time or two. It was the other drivers working with him that gave him the nick name 'Tailpipe'. Mostly because it's the most common view of him that you see. (this is a good thing when you're racing, a bad thing when you're running away from a fight. Both apply to Jason) Eventually he dreams of earning enough money or attention to be able to enter the big races, but until then he’s happy where he’s at. As far as his parents are concerned however he works as a mechanic and some times limo driver for a racer and travels the countryside with him. He doesn’t plan to tell him what else he does.




ALCHEMIC ABILITY:
Jason specializes in fabrication transmutations especially mechanical parts. He can transmute raw materials into just about any part using nothing more then a prototype or a diagram. For the most part however he can only produce simple parts. Nuts, bolts, pistons, etc. He knows how to make a piston for automail, but because he’s not an automail mechanic he doesn’t know how it would attach to the rest of the frame to make it work.

The exception to this is when dealing with vehicles his experience in his father’s garage give him a greater understanding of cars and motorcycles then other machinery. He’s also found that he can transmute a car while driving if the transmutation circles already exist ahead of time. Using this he can increase his driving ability by making subtitle changes to the body shape. Or change a car color by altering the make up of the paint. He can’t however transmute moving parts. The other parts around then tend to break down during the transmutation. For example he can jack up a car and give it faster slicks for tires but he can’t while driving down the road, the car would literally slip out of the transmutation.
